Dmitry Medvedev signed a number of executive orders establishing procedures for publishing on the internet reports on the work of state ministries and agencies. The executive orders were signed in accordance with the Federal Law On Access to Information on Activities of State Authorities and Bodies of Local Self-Government, requiring presidential approval of the relevant lists of agencies and types of information to be published.

Dmitry Medvedev visited the Russian Information Agency RIA Novosti on its 70th anniversary and congratulated the agency’s staff on the anniversary.

During his visit to Russian Information Agency RIA Novosti, Dmitry Medvedev met with Russian and international experts in media innovation.

Dmitry Medvedev submitted to the State Duma draft Federal Law On Amendments to the Federal Law on the Procedure for Publication and Entry into Force of Federal Constitutional Laws, Federal Laws, and Acts of Chambers of the Federal Assembly.

Participants discussed prospects for developing the Internet and copyright regulation in the global information space.

Dmitry Medvedev approved a list of instructions issued following an April 29, 2011 meeting with internet community representatives.

Key issues on the summit’s agenda included international security, joint effort in the fight against terrorism, nuclear security issues, the situation in the Middle East and North Africa, the consequences of the earthquake in Japan, and internet development and its impact on society and the economy.

Dmitry Medvedev signed Executive Order On Amendments to the Presidential Executive Order No. 715 of June 24, 2009 On National Free Television Channels and Radio Stations and to the List of Mandatory Free National Channels Approved Thereby.

The meeting participants discussed how to develop the Russian section of the internet, looking in particular at issues such as legal regulation of the internet, responsibility for information published, and copyright and intellectual property rights protection in the internet.
