THE NETHERLANDS.The President of Russia visited Amsterdam.

Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands and Crown Prince Willem-Alexander personally met Vladimir and Liudmila Putin at the Schiphol airport. The Queen and the Prince welcomed the Putins and introduced them to the Dutch delegation.
From the airport Vladimir and Liudmila Putin went to the Dam Square where they participated in a ceremony of laying a wreath on the National Monument, created in 1956 in honour of Dutch citizens who died in the Second World War.
The next item on the agenda was breakfast with Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands and the Crown Prince of Orange in the Museum van Loon.
Vladimir Putin also met with Dutch business representatives.
In the city of Zaandam the head of the Russian state visited the Museum «Peter's Cottage», in which Peter stayed for a week in August 1697 under the alias Peter Mikhailov.
The Museum's employee, Marina Diakonova showed the Russian head of state the rooms the Russian tsar lived and worked in, and talked in detail about the Museum's unique exhibitions.
In the evening, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands gave a state reception in honour of Vladimir and Lyudmila Putin.

BINNENHOF, THE HAGUE.President Vladimir Putin held talks with Dutch Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende.

Mr Putin and Mr Balkenende held their talks at the Dutch Prime Minister’s residence. The bilateral talks then continued in extended format.
Following the talks, a number of bilateral agreements were signed in the presence of the two leaders, including: the Joint Action Programme for 2006-2007 between the Russian Federation and the Netherlands; a joint working programme between the Russian Education Ministry and the Dutch Ministry for Education, Culture and Science, for 2006-2008; a memorandum of understanding between the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Dutch Organisation for Applied Scientific Research and a cooperation agreement between Sberbank of Russia and Atradius Dutch State Business N.V.
Mr Putin and Mr Balkenende made press statements following their talks.
This was followed by an official breakfast given by the Dutch Prime Minister in honour of the Russian President and his wife.

THE PEACE PALACE, THE HAGUE.President Vladimir Putin visited the headquarters of the United Nations International Court of Justice.

Opening the session of the court, held to mark Mr Putin’s visit, President of the International Court of Justice Shi Jiuyong made a speech about the role of the court within the system of international law. The speech devoted considerable place to the contribution made by the Russian school of law to the theory and practice of international law and relations.
Mr Putin then addressed the court.
Following the session, Mr Putin made a brief visit of the Peace Palace, the historical building that is home to the court.

ROYAL NOORDEINDE PALACE, THE HAGUE.President Vladimir Putin's official visit to the Netherlands ended with an official farewell ceremony.

Mr Putin and Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands inspected a guard of honour.
An orchestra played the Russian and Dutch national anthems.
Following the ceremony, the President and his wife left for the airport, accompanied by the Prince of Orange.
